Participation in Sound & Screen Design for the exhibition “Discover what moves us” | 2009 | Potsdamer Platz, Berlin (Germany)

Spread out over three floors, the exhibition Begreifen, was uns bewegt (Discover what moves us) presents numerous interactive installations and hands-on exhibits that illustrate and explicate human movement such as walking and grasping through visitor’s participation. Main aim is to impart knowledge about the correlations between human motor functions and related research innovations. The exhibition’s design approach rests upon the idea of movement in general and is intended to attract both professionals and the general public.

Der Bedingte Reflex

Sound Design for 2D/3D Animation Movie | February 2009 | Length:  23 min. | Format: HD 16:9

This text will be replaced

“Conditional reflex” is a term in behavioural biology. It describes a reaction pattern, that is not inborn, but learned associatively.

A routine mission grows into a perilous challenge for inexperienced cadet Pirx and his technology minded colleague Doctor Langner. Starting with curios radio signals, the security system at an isolated measuring station begins to threaten their crew. Based on Stanislaw Lem’s short story “Odruch Warunkowy” / “The Conditional Reflex“.

WEISS

Experimental Short Movie | 2007 | Length: 13 min. | Format: DVCPro HD 16:9

The storyline discloses a young man’s life which proceeds in opposition to the uniform outside world. Secluded in his room his main concern is with the neighbouring, unfulfilled love. A casual incident, effected by external circumstances, provides the opportunity to break out of society’s mechanized moulds.

A dystopy, abandoning speech and text, revealing expressive audio-visual scenes by the use of harmonic symbiosis of music, sound design and visual aesthetics.

With the aid of a small and supportive staff WEISS was shot in five days in the city centre of Köln. Taking the time needed made it possible for us to carry out the preparation and post production on our own. WEISS had it’s premiere at the KHM Showcase in Cinenova, Köln in October 2007 and was followed by it’s first official screening at the Time Warp Festival 2008 in Mannheim (Germany) where it won the Time Warp Film Award 2008 for best short movie.
